A downloadable game

Smarty Plants is an educational vegetable gardening mobile app developed by design students Victoria Lee and Stacy Ma as part of the 2026 DESN 415 capstone at MacEwan University. While it is currently in high-fidelity, some of the functionalities are limited only for the purposes of presenting this concept design.

The prototype is currently playable on Android devices only.

Install instructions

Installation Instructions

  1. Download the .apk file onto your Android device.
  2. Go to My Files, then Downloads.
  3. Tap on Smarty-plants.apk to begin installation.
  4. If Google Play Protect appears, tap Scan App. It should give you an indication that it's safe, prompting for you to tap install.
  5. If successful, a dialog box should appear saying that the app has been installed.


Troubleshooting

  • Ensure that it gives you the permission to install unknown apps by going to your phone's settings.
  • If you have already downloaded a build of this game previously, you may need to delete it as there could be conflicts preventing successful installs. To do so, go to settings > installed apps > and find Smarty Plants Prototype to uninstall it firsthand.
